NOV 11th - National Education Day
INDIA :
- In India , every year NOVEMBER 11th is observed as "NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY " in the country. This is to salute the birth anniversary of India's First Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
- Abul Kalam Azad's period of ministry was between 1947 to 1958 , and hence Abul Kalam Azad was the First Education Minister of Independent India.
- Born: 11 November 1888, Mecca , Saudi Arabia
- Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was one of the most influenced person in independence activists during India’s freedom struggle. He was also a well-known writer, poet, journalist and also a politician. He was a prominent political leader of the Indian National Congress and was elected as Congress President in 1923 and 1940.
- Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was awarded ‘Bharat Ratna’, India's highest civilian honor, in 1992.
